A Discussion on Ethics Education in the Age of AI!

- The Korea Institute of Education and Research to hold both an online and offline ‘Future Education Forum’ on AI Ethics Education

- The direction of AI ethics and education in the ChatGPT era is set to be discussed.

□ The Korea Educational Research and Information Service (KERIS) will hold the KERIS Future Education Forum on May 11 (Thursday) from 16:00 to 19:00 on the topic of AI ethics education.

○ The forum, which will be held at the Seoul National University of Education's Sasang Cultural Center, will feature presentations and comprehensive discussions on AI ethics education under the theme, "In the ChatGPT era- What we need to know about AI ethics and the direction of education.”

○ The forum will discuss various AI ethics issues related to ChatGPT, which has become an issue recently, and explore ways to solve and respond to AI ethical issues in schools. 

○ The forum will begin with a lecture on "Guidelines for  Data Ethics in AI for Learning" by Professor Byun Soon-Yong of Seoul National University, followed by lectures on "AI Ethical Issues and Responses" by Professor Jong-Wook Kim of Dong-A University, and "How to Integrate AI and Ethics in Education" by Professor Jo Jung-Won of Jeju University.

○ In the general discussion afterward, Professor Kim Hongrae of Chuncheon National University, Kwak Junho of the Korea Telecommunications and Information Association, Professor Kim Hyung-joo of Chung-Ang University, Professor Kim Han-sung of Korea Cyber University, and current teachers from elementary and middle schools will discuss various issues and responses to AI ethics, such as AI illusions, bias, privacy violations and information leaks, and copyright controversies.

□ "As the era of general-purpose AI has opened up with the advent of ChatGPT, we expect this forum to be a starting point for sharing social and ethical issues in the AI era and gathering wisdom to explore the direction of education needed for our future generations who will have to live with AI," said Dr. Seo Yoo-mi, Director of KERIS.

□ The KERIS Future Education Forum will be broadcast live on the KERIS YouTube channel*, and later, the videos will be posted on the KERIS YouTube and KOCW sites.
